Image Galleries can be set up to display photos. Some have just basic features for a simple to use gallery, others automatically catalog and create thumbnails, and one uses AJAX to present images rather slickly.

GDPics Gallery
A larger gallery module. Supports pictures in subfolders of the media dir and has lot of options to choose in settings but doesn't work on every host. If your host supports it, this gallery is probably the best choice for large numbers of images.
Image Gallery
A fairly straight forward, easy to use, gallery. Pictures are uploaded from within the module, and stored as a list on the admin page. There are a number of formatting options. Very useful for a small-medium number of images, especially in situations where you may want to assign management of the images to a secondary content manager.
Swift Gallery
This is a nice gallery that allows for multiple "albums" on a page. Changing images is as simple (and swift?) as passing your mouse over one of the thumbnail images on the right border. Files need to be uploaded via FTP, and it does NOT resize the images for you. You will need to manually do so before uploading them so they fit your template.
